Check out this Alaskan adventure from SDSCI Board member,
Robert Wiegand and his wife Susie!
Susie and I went to Sitka on July 26th this year.  We did not have a charter fishing guide lined up because all the charters were booked from the prior year due to the shut down in 2020.  We had called multiple fishing guides several months ahead with no luck, we decided to go anyway and take our chances.  Once there we called around and got tips on who to call, lucky for us we found that two people were canceling last minute for the next day.  We got on board with a charter company called Outbound, we were on a 24 ft. aluminum boat, 2 hours out to the fishing grounds.  The weather was unusually sunny and seas calm.  Susie and I both caught the largest king salmon we have ever caught, a 30 pounder and a 28. We caught our limit of silver salmon, halibut, black cod & rockfish.
The quaint town has a few notable attractions; Fortress of the Bears and the Raptor Center. This is our third year fishing in Sitka, we fill our freezer every trip and highly recommend going.
