The best source for information on California legislation and litigation which affects hunting, fishing, the shooting sports and Second Amendment rights is the California Rifle and Pistol Association. CRPA follows this legislation closely and advocates for the right to engage in those activities while pursuing litigation when necessary to protect those rights. The easiest way to keep up with legislation is by reading CRPA’s Legislative Affairs Reports, which can be viewed here.
These reports provide a brief summary of each bill CRPA is following, the status of the bill and CRPA’s position on the bill. To state your position on any bill, CRPA provides this link to look up your representatives.
An even better way to keep up with the legislative activities in California is to join CRPA so you can receive member e-mails and their Firing Line magazine, which contains Legislative Reports, Litigation Reports, Program Reports, and a variety of interesting and instructive articles. Visit CRPA to become a member.
In the Crosshairs & Orange Alerts
SCI periodically sends out “In the Crosshairs” alerts about legislative activities that could impact our right to hunt. The California Coalition also sends out Orange Alerts on such legislation specific to California. To see the most recent In the Crosshairs and Orange Alerts review the Recent Posts in our blog shown on the right side or our web site.
These alerts generally encourage members to contact their representatives to state their position on pending legislation. We encourage our Chapter members to read these alerts and contact their representatives by e-mail, letter or phone call. A phone call only takes a few minutes and your position will be recorded.
